Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel



      Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was a Great leader of India who made a significant contribution to the country's freedom struggle and worked for the unification of a united, independent India. In India and around the world, he is known as 'Sardar'. He is also known as the Iron Man because of his strong morale.
Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was born on 31st October 1875 in his Mosal in Nadiad. He was brought up in Karamsad village of Gujarat. His father's name was Zaverbhai and mother's name was Ladba. His father Zaverbhai had a farm in Karamsad. As a child, Vallabhbhai helped his father on the farm. At the age of 18, he married Zaverba. Vallabhbhai had to go to Nadiad, Petlad and Borsad to complete his schooling where he lived independently with other boys. Once he broke a boil that had happened to him without any hesitation, which made even the barber tremble. In which his courage is seen. Vallabhbhai passed the matriculation examination at the age of 22 years. He studied law, saved money by working, planned to go to England to study but Vallabhbhai let his elder brother study in his place. He also raised his elder brother's expenses in England.
He started his domestic life in Godhra where he gained a reputation as an intense and skilled lawyer. He had two children - Maniben and Dahyabhai. Once in 1909, while he was cross-examining a witness in court, Vallabhbhai's wife Zaverba died of cancer. When Vallabhbhai was given the news of his wife's death, Vallabhbhai read it and slipped it into his pocket and continued the cross-examination of the witness and they won the case. He passed the news on to others.
Vallabhbhai Patel During his successful advocacy, he was greatly influenced by the work and ideology of Mahatma Gandhi. He then organized the farmers of Kheda, Borsad and Bardoli villages of Gujarat and staged satyagrahas against the atrocities of the British. In which they succeeded. After the victory in the Bardoli Satyagraha, Vallabhbhai began to be addressed by more and more people as 'Sardar'. Due to this role, he was considered as an influential leader of Gujarat. He played a leading role in the Quit India Movement.
As India's first Home Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel led and restored peace efforts across the country. The Sardar consolidated the six semi-autonomous kingdoms and the princely states into a united India. He was known as the Iron Man of India.
    He died of a heart attack on December 15, 1950. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel to The Bharat Ratna, India's highest honor, was posthumously awarded in 1991. October 31 is celebrated as Sardar Jayanti. Many public institutions in India have been named after Sardar. The dam built on the river Narmada is named after Sardar. In his memory, the world's tallest statue of 182 meters high was inaugurated by the Prime Minister of India Shri Narendrabhai Modi on 31st October 2018 at Sardar Sarovar Dam. Named STATUE OF UNITY. Which will always remind Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
